Mayday messages make it to Canberra
Rosemary Brooks, forum photographer, and Sue Plowright drove up through East Gippsland, the Monaro high plains and into Canberra to hand the messages to Russell Broadbent MP for Monash. He delivered a 10 minute speech, a rare opportunity apparently, while Sue and Rosemary watched on. It was a moving speech, representing well the voices of the 70 who attended and participated in the forum. The next step is to turn words into action such as fully and enthusiastically implementing the Respect at Work report recommendations and implementing concrete measures to address the shortage of secure homes and emergency accommodation for women – key issues identified by forum participants.
Watch the speech here. (The text below the video is an excerpt of the speech).
